I work with conductors on technique, score reading and preparation, and on rehearsal and performance issues.
In my teaching of conducting, I’m committed to the principle that conducting challenges are fundamentally musical (and sometimes also interpersonal). The path to solving conducting problems and gaining fluency and confidence on the podium always entails, on one hand, a deepening of musical insight and hearing, and on the other hand, a subtle appreciation of other minds. A genuinely reliable, lasting and vital conducting technique can only be built from the inside out. In my workshops, classes and lessons, I work with you to help you coordinate intellect, ear, spirit, heart and body, guiding you to know what you want to be communicating and how you can be most effective at communicating it.
